The story behind Shivam Opticals

Shivam Opticals began with determination.

In 1991 tragedy struck our family when Mr. Shyam Narayan Dwivedi, an entrepreneur and lawyer, lost his life unexpectedly. His passing left an entire family dependent on his eldest son, Arvind Dwivedi, who was still studying in Class 11.

Forced to put aside his own dreams of higher education, he stepped forward to support his family. Over the years, he tried one venture after another — not because success was guaranteed, but because giving up was never an option.

With the encouragement of his father-in-law, Mr. Ram Kumar Pandey, he opened an electronics shop in 1992. Despite his passion for electronics, the business struggled in a small-town economy where many customers couldn't afford such products, and unpaid credit became difficult for a young entrepreneur to recover.

He then explored other ventures, including a local cinema projector business, government supply work, and a tent business. Every setback became another lesson rather than the end of the journey.

In 1995, a government-allotted PCO finally brought financial stability to the family. But even then, he kept looking ahead.

Across the road stood Sitapur Eye Hospital. Seeing people in need of quality eyewear — and noticing an opportunity to offer better service — he introduced a small collection of sunglasses and spectacles alongside the PCO.

That simple decision became the beginning of Shivam Opticals, named after his newborn son, affectionately called Shivam.

What started with just a few frames soon earned the trust of families across Sultanpur through honest advice, fair pricing, and genuine care. As demand grew, prescription eyewear, advanced lenses, and professional eye care became the foundation of the business.
